The Pian delle Vigne estate is located six kilometers (3.5 miles) to the south of the town of Montalcino to the north of the Orcia river valley and takes its name (“plain of the vineyards” in Italian) from a 19th century railroad station, typical of the architecture of the period, located within the confines of the property

  • Terrain:The estate consists of an overall total of approximately 450 acres (180 hectares), some 160 of which are planted to vines. The soil is predominantly clayey and calcareous with an ample presence of small stones in the soil’s texture
  • Fermentation:The grapes were destemmed and then softly pressed, and the must, with 15-21 days of skin contact, was fermented in 3300 gallon (125 hectoliter) stainless steel tanks at temperatures which peaked at 81° Fahrenheit (27° centigrade)
